The premier tennis and swim club on Chicago's North Shore, The Birchwood Club offers an incomparable array of athletic and social activities for the entire family - toddlers to seniors.

The Birchwood Club, established in 1958, is located in Highland Park, 20 miles north of Chicago's Loop. The club is situated on 12 acres, just east of the Eden's Expressway (US Route 41), set back off of Park Avenue West.

From the first balmy days of May through the golden glow of September, The Birchwood Club is your summer home for meeting friends and family. Views from the beautifully decorated, comfortable clubhouse overlook the grounds ablaze with thousands of flowers and enhanced by the surrounding woods.

Whether playing a serious match of tennis singles or meeting another couple for a friendly game of doubles, everyone at Birchwood can find their level of tennis. The club boasts 12 Har-Tru (soft) and four newly surfaced Deco-Turf (hard) courts. The Pro Shop offers a complete line of men's and women's tennis fashions, rackets and balls, as well as professional racket stringing. Birchwood fields both men's and women's travel teams and in-house leagues, as well as holding regular club tournaments and mixers for every level of play. Private and groups lessons can be easily arranged with one of Birchwood's tennis professionals. Junior programs and tournaments also play a big role in Birchwood's tennis program. Looking for a partner or opponent, Birchwood's tennis staff can help find the right person. If you just want to come to Club and hit balls, we have high school and college-aged "hitting assistants" who are eager to get on the court with you for some fast-paced rallies!

Set among beautiful gardens, the heated Birchwood swimming pool, brand new Kiddie Pool, playground and adjacent whirlpool are the perfect spots to relax. The pools are manned by Red Cross or Ellis-certified lifeguards and are open seven days a week (weather permitting) during the summer season. Adult and junior swim lessons are available from the friendly and knowledgeable pool staff.

The Clubhouse consists of recently renovated men and women's locker rooms, fitness center, members' foyer, reception office and staff offices as well as the Main Dining Room and Grill Room/Bistro casual dining area. Birchwood members enjoy each other's company along with their favorite beverages and complimentary evening appetizers in the Cocktail Lounge. The new Grill Room/Bistro offers a more casual dining option, perfect for families and for times when you'd prefer a more laid-back atmosphere.
